If you’ve purchased an X6 or another handset recently which didn’t come with a CD, you might find you have some trouble getting Windows 7 to sync via USB.

Below is any easy fix for the problem:

1. Go to http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html and download USBDeview software.

2. Install the software > Select sort by description > Uninstall the nokia usb device driver.

3. Uninstall and reinstall the Nokia Ovi Suite software you have downloaded previously. The link is: http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/software/Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller_ALL.exe

4. Connect your phone to the computer. As soon as you plug in the phone your computer should re-install the driver for the phone. This driver should be located in the phone memory.

5. Your phone will then prompt you to select a mode >select PC suite mode or Mass Storage mode* . (PC suite is for the phone to sync data such as contacts and email to your PC, Mass Storage acts like a USB thumb drive.)

6. If you are still encountering the same problem after the previous steps, you can run a hard reset** on your phone, and then repeat the above steps. Please note that a hard reset will erase ALL data on your phone. Make sure you back it up first!

*please try both modes to ensure your device is connected to the computer properly.

**To hard reset your X6: Enter *#7370#. It will then ask for a passcode – enter 12345.
