New data has been released by StatCounter for 2011 and it shows that Symbian is still the most widespread mobile widespread operating system in the world. The OS is on approximately 33.46% devices. Coming in second at no surpass was Apple’s iOS, largely due to iPhone 4S sales at the end of the year.

What do you think of the data? Are you surprised that the dwindling Symbian doesn’t seem to be over just yet?
