Android has now taken over the top spot for smartphone operating systems. Research done by Canalys found that sales running Android OS were 33.3 million, while Symbian smartphones were 31 million in Q4 2010.
This isn’t surprising news since Nokia is the only manufacturer that has Symbian on their phones. Most manufacturers have put Android OS on theirs.
Apple iOS ends up in third place with 16.2 smartphones, RIM with 14.6, and Microsoft ending up with 3.1 smartphones.
