Samsung has sent out its save-the-date notifications across the media world asking to join Samsung Electronics America for an important announcement on August 15, 2012.

As soon as the notifications were received by media groups, rumors regarding Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 2 have skyrocketed. Galaxy Note 2 is the latest yet-to-be released successor of the popular and powerful smartphone Samsung Galaxy Note.

The brief notification received by 9TO5Google, Google’s own news website, reads:

SAVE THE DATE
August 15, 2012
10:00AM EST

Please join Samsung Electronics America for a major announcement and unveiling of the newest GALAXY device. An exclusive press conference will take place where full details will be disclosed. An invitation with details will follow soon. Thank you.

Although, the notification is carefully crafted by folks at Samsung and does not give away any information regarding what product will be unveiled, rumors are heating up that the product could be Samsung Galaxy Note 2, a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen phablet with an Exynos Quad-core processor and a 13MP camera. GSMArena, however, begs to differ. It opines that the device is likely to be a tablet:

The other Note – the Galaxy Note 10.1 – is a likelier candidate. It has gone through a redesign (its CPU got updated to four cores.

It further adds:

It has been pointed out that the note comes from Samsung Electronics America, not Samsung Telecommunications America (who usually handle phones), which lends some credence to the Note 10.1 theory.

In case it is not revealed on the said date, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is certain to be introduced on August 31 at IFA 2012 in Berlin.
