According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Samsung will be making its bada operating system available to external developers next year. The source, who claims to be ” a person familiar with the situation,” says the company is doing that in hopes to attract more people to the OS and prevent heavy reliance on the Google Android OS.
Not all open source OS guarantee success, however. Nokia opened up the Symbian operating system in 2008 and we all know the fate of the OS. It could have been too late to save the OS, so if Samsung is doing this early on in development, it could give developers a reason to work with the code.
