The wait is slowly coming to an end for Samsung Galaxy S3 owners, as we are now hearing that the latest Android update for Samsung’s flagship smartphone is only days away.
Android Central has claimed that Android OS v4.1 (Jelly Bean) will be officially made available as an update for international Samsung Galaxy S3 handsets starting August 29, 2012. Commenting on the current status of the update, it wrote:
Sources familiar with Samsung’s plans inform us that the firmware is in the final stages of testing.
Incidentally, the day chosen by Samsung to release this update is the same when it is holding its Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin for the next version of the Galaxy Note. The event will take place two days before the IFA 2012 exhibition opens.
The current schedule calls for the release of the international S3 Jelly Bean update shortly after the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin, Germany next Wednesday, Aug. 29.
Although, Jelly Bean update will first be released for international Samsung Galaxy S3, carrier-specific models will eventually follow through after getting approval from the respective carriers. This will be Samsung’s record time for rolling out new Android updates (only two months after Google’s release), as it has been slow to do so in the past, a change that will surely be welcomed by all Samsung Galaxy S3 users.
