In an official statement received by Techradar, Samsung has revealed that the successor of the Samsung Galaxy S II will not be announced at the Mobile World Congress. The new smartphone will have its own event, following the huge success of the Samsung Galaxy S II, some time in the first half of 2012. This means that we could potentially be waiting until June, before the device is announced. It is important to remember that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus was only announced a couple of months ago, so this shouldn’t come as a major surprise.
“Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012. The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.”
If you have been holding out for the Samsung Galaxy S III, will you consider getting the Galaxy Nexus instead?
