Samsung Galaxy Note 2 image mistakenly leaked?

It is a beautiful world we live in, but bizarre things do happen sometimes. In one such instance, Samsung Pakistan may have mistakenly leaked an image of Samsung’s next big release – the Galaxy Note 2, Engadget reports.

Yesterday, Samsung Pakistan posted a mysterious image of an unreleased smartphone on its official Facebook page. To make things even more mysterious and confusing, the caption of the newly uploaded image read:

Picture perfect view made even more perfect with Samsung Galaxy S3.

What’s troubling here is that the image was clearly not that of the Samsung Galaxy S3, as also pointed out by commenters. The following screenshot, courtesy Engadget, shows the image posted by Samsung Pakistan:

As soon as the news broke out about the ‘leak’, Samsung Pakistan, in a frantic bid of damage control or otherwise, temporarily disabled their Facebook page. However, the page came back online after some time and the mystery image was updated with the caption:

Galaxy Note.

Folks at Engadget aptly described the turnaround:

As keen-eyed commenters have spotted, the page has re-appeared with the photo now captioned as a “Galaxy Note.” Mind-boggling.

Interestingly, the image was deleted altogether soon afterwards and Samsung Pakistan posted the following apology note on the page:

Dear All, there has been a slight misunderstanding regarding a few recent posts. Please note that it was a mistake on the part of our moderator as he picked up the wrong image off google. Please have a wonderful iftar and enjoy your Ramadan. We truly apologize for any misunderstanding caused.

What are your thoughts? Could this be the next version of Samsung Galaxy Note?

This image was a fake fan made concept art that came up before the Galaxy S 3 was released.
