Samsung President, JK Shin, told reporters at MWC that he expects the company to sell twice as many smartphones this year and sell a total of 380 million devices. This would be a 16% sales increase over last year. Samsung is expected to reach that number by launching a Galaxy S III and the new Samsung Galaxy Note.
In 2011, Samsung sold 97.4 million smartphones, largely in part to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S II. The company just edged out Apple who had 93 million sales. Samsung sold a total of 327.4 million devices in 2011, up from 280.2 million in 2010.
