A new rumor has surfaced that Microsoft is looking to invest in the dwindling Canadian company RIM.  Bezinga, a finance site stated:

Hearing Renewed Chatter of Microsoft Interest in Research in Motion Acquisition:  Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT)is prepared to make a $3.5 billion investment in Research in Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM), according to sources. The two companies have been frequently mentioned in potential deals over the past few months.

RIM has approximately $6.85 billion market, so $3.5 billion would around 50% off the company.  The statement also noted that it had been in the works for a few months, but nothing has come of fruition yet.
