South Korean giant LG is aiming to take a bigger slice of the global smartphone pie according to Park Jong-seok, LG’s handset chief. The quad-core Optimus 4X HD will be leading the charge towards 35 million handset sale globally. 8 million of which LG is estimating to be LTE smartphones.

“This year, we are aiming to sell 80 million handsets including 35 million smartphones. But more importantly, LG aims to sell 8 million LTE smartphones. With fine-tuned technology and strategies, LG will recover our once-lost brand awareness.”

Clearly lamenting the loss of design principle which produced devices such as the much-loved LG Chocolate & Prada handsets, Park provided a brief rundown of L-Style; a key building block in recapturing LG’s lost brand awareness.

With smartphones, we sometimes took a more functional approach to design but with L-Style we’re going back to our roots as a company focused on how our products fit into the lifestyle of our customers.”
