“It’s Better Than Our iOS App”, Instagram Android Version Imminent

After 27 million downloads for the iPhone, developer & co-founder Kevin Systrom of Instagram announced at South By Southwest that the Android version of their insanely popular image sharing app, Instagram, is in private beta. iPhone users have been going gaga over the application for a long time now with Android users lamenting the exclusivity of the uber-popular photo sharing app. That exclusivity will finally be over as Android users can close their browsers (currently the only way to access the service) and open up the app which Systrom describes as

“In some ways, it’s better than our iOS app. It’s crazy,”

“What took the startup so long to bring what’s clearly an extremely popular app to Android? “I don’t think it took us so long. We just had priorities. Had we tried to be both on Android and iPhone at the same time, it would’ve been tough to innovate in the way that we have,”

As well as being shared amongst users of the app, Instagram photos can also share photos to other sites such as Twitter, Tumblr & Facebook. Sadly there is still no official or confirmed release date
