Google has announced a new security measure for the Android Market, codenamed ‘Bouncer’. The new security measure is very simple, it automatically scans apps for Malware, without requiring developers to go through an app approval process. Bouncer will scan all uploaded apps for spyware, trojans and other lethal components, it will also look for other suspicious behaviour that may raise a red flag. The service will also run a simulation of each app in the cloud, and regularly check up on developer accounts to keep repeat offenders out of the Android Market. Existing apps will have to go through the same security measures as new apps being uploaded to the Android Market. There has been a 40% drop in the amount of malware on the Android market, between the first and second halves of 2011.
