Executive changes at Google

There are some big changes going on over at Google.  Current CEO Eric Schmidt will be replaced by Google co-founder, Larry Page.  Schmidt will become executive chairman.  He wrote in a blog that he would be focusing on deals, partnerships and customers.  Schmidt joined the company in 2001 and oversaw the 2004 initial public offering, which was the biggest for any Internet company.

So what challenges will Page be faced with?  He will have to focus on the massive growth of Facebook and Apple.  He will also have to focus on the continuing growth of Android and it’s competition with the Apple iPhone and other operating systems.  Currently, Google maintains its leadership in the search-engine field, but they are experiencing pressure from Yahoo and Microsoft’s Bing.
