Ahead of negotiations between chief executives of Samsung and Apple in a US court regarding resolution of their high-profile patent lawsuit, JK Shin, head of Samsung Mobile Communications has said that the South Korean manufacturer seeks to end differences with Apple Inc..
He further said that the current dearth of 4G chipset is going to continue and the situation is not expected to get better before October later this year. This poses a serious challenge to Samsung regarding current as well as up-coming 4G LTE smartphone and tablet releases. It gets even more complicated considering the high demand for 4G LTE version of their latest flagship phone Samsung i9300 Galaxy S III.
Although it is still too early to predict what repercussions this 4G chip shortage might bring, Samsung may have to rely on other vendors for chip supply and new 4G LTE device releases may be very limited.
