In a confusing turn of events, a Sony Ericsson representative told SoMobile that their current generation Xperia phones will be updated to Android 4.0, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich.  This includes the Xperia Ray and Xperia Arc.

Although that statement was given, Sony Ericsson backtracked and said they had made no official decision to update their devices to Android 4.0.  They said, “When it comes to future platforms of the Android OS, we will make them available to consumers in a timely manger, as long as they improve the user experience and are viable from a hardware point of view.”

There is little information about Ice Cream Sandwich, but just that Google promises it to be “the most ambitious one yet.”
