| Motorola released a lot of devices in 2011, but Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha said that will change in 2012 and that the company will focus on marketing dollars. | The Motorola RAZR is a great device, however it doesn't have the best battery life. If you love the device, and wouldn't mind a slightly thicker form factor, in return for a bigger battery that will last you the day, then the Motorola RAZR MAXX is for you! The RAZR MAXX promises 21 hours of battery life, which is pretty impressive, however I bet that figure would be at least halved if you were constantly surfing the internet over 3G or streaming videos. | Motorola Mobility is taking measures they feel will better position their company financially. They will be cutting 800 jobs from their workforce. The cuts will cost the company $31 million, which includes $27 million in severance packages and $4 million to close the locations. | At the Dreamforce conference in San Francisco, Google's Chairman Eric Schmidt wanted to clarify the recent acquisition of Motorola to the attendees. The former CEO said: We did it for more than just patents. We actually believe that the Motorola team has some amazing products coming,” and went on to add that, "We’re excited to have the product line, to use the Motorola brand, the product architecture, the engineers. | A report by Millennial Media shows a nice increase for the Android OS, increasing from 54% in June to 61% in July. This makes it the eighth consecutive month that Android has led the market. Apple's iOS is sitting in the number 2 spot, dropping six points to 21%. Previously, iOS had only lose one point in the past two months. RIM's Blackberry OS and Symbian each fell by one point to 14% and 2%, respectively. Windows Phone remained the same at 2%. | With the recent Google announcement that they would be acquiring Motorola Mobility, it has left Android users wondering what it meant for other manufacturers. HTC's CEO Peter Chou has come forward and said "No" if they would be seeking out their own operating system for their hardware. With an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Chou said that their goal is take advantage of the new partnership with Google and Microsoft. | It some big news in the mobile industry, it was announced that Google would acquire Motorola Mobility in a $12.5 billion dollar deal. By combining forces, this puts Google in a very similar position that Apple currently has as more than just an operating system provider, but as a manufacturer. In the acquisition, Google would also gain the 17,000 some-odd patents that Motorola Mobility currently has. Google’s Larry Page said: "Our acquisition of Motorola will increase competition by strengthening Google’s patent portfolio, which will enable us to better protect Android from anti-competitive threats from Microsoft, Apple and other companies." | CEO Sanjay Jha had mentioned that Motorola would be steering away from the company’s interface and it looks as though that might truly start happening. Motorola mentioned the interface by name during hands-on events for new launches, but didn’t discuss the proprietary Android skin. Why is the company getting rid of it?
