HTC CEO to carry Olympic torch in London

Facebook phone: to be or not to be?

Some time back, the internet blogosphere went wild raving about the possibility of an exclusive smartphone being developed secretly by Facebook. The speculations were put to rest by none other than Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself. Later, HTC unveiled Android-based HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa. Google & Asus are rumoured to have partnered up to release the first Google Play tablet into the marketplace. HTC and Samsung have both had bites of the Google cherry with their Nexus devices and it looks like Google wants to share the love. HTC Sense 4.0 and why you should be excited

PocketNow has tried an early build of HTC Sense 4.0, and says that the latest update reduces the amount of visual clutter seen in Sense 3.5. The update will also add a card-like task switcher, landscape support for the home screen, and an updated email client with Smart Sync, which can predict usage habits to conserve battery life (e.g. no checking for emails at 3AM, unless you are usually a night owl). Speeds of up to 40Mbps on Telstra’s 4G network

Telstra today released Australia's first 4G mobile, the HTC Velocity 4G. The device will be able to access Telstra's 4G network within 5KM of all major cities and major regional centres. Voice will continue to be transmitted over Telstra's Next G Network, whilst data goes over the 4G network. When you leave a 4G network area, data will then be transmitted over the Next G network. Telstra are advertising download speeds between 2Mbps and 40Mbps, and upload speeds between 1Mbps and 10Mbps on the 4G network. No more clickable phone numbers for Android?

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) today ruled that HTC devices with clickable phone numbers (e.g. in the web browser, or an email) that launch the phones dialler app should be banned for violating Apple's patents. The ruling bans HTC from selling devices with this feature, from April 19th 2012 onwards. HTC has told Mashable that they plan to release an update, to remove the feature from their devices. There's been more talk about an official Facebook phone coming to fruition since its rumored that HTC would be the manufacturer, so AllthingsD.com polled its readers if they were interested in a Facebook phone or not. Well it looks as though the majority of its readers are not interested in this device at all.
