And Now For Something Completely Different

Today I've opted for a departure from the usual subject of MobilePhoneBlog posts. For much of the preceding hour or so I've been watching the excellent documentary, Secrets of the Superbrands. This is a documentary which very effectively re-frames information that anyone who follows the tech market will already mostly know in a very different context. It's intriguing stuff that I strongly felt the MobilePhoneBlog readership would enjoy. There's the small child who describes Nokia as an elderly person. Sony is imagined as being a... Apple vs. Samsung: The Withhold Sales Data Tactic

Apple & Samsung have been at it again. Fronting the US Court of Appeal Apple's legal team claimed that it was enough to prove Samsung infringed on Apple's patents to support the argument that the allegedly infringing Samsung Galaxy line-up directly caused a loss of customers - ie: income - for Apple iPhones and iPads. In December 2011 a judge ruled against Apple on the basis that they did not provide enough information to substantiate their claimed... (Keep reading..)

Google sought Taiwan-based co-brand partners at the end of 2011, the sources... (Keep reading..)

The much talked about vaporware offerings Google Drive, Google Music and even the Google entertainment device have been resurrected recently, as any Android user who has searched their app drawer in vain for the Market will be attest to. Google has integrated the Android Market, Books, Music and Video offerings all under the Google Play banner. According to Google: Entertainment is supposed to be fun. But in reality, getting everything to work can be the exact opposite—moving files between your computers, endless syncing across your devices, and wires…lots of wires.... (Keep reading..)

Google Chrome for Android has finally been released, though there is one catch, your device must be running Android 4.0 ICS. The software is currently in BETA, so this could potentially change when the final version is released. Only 1% of Android devices are currently running Ice Cream Sandwich, though this number should increase within the next few months, as more devices are updated to ICS. Chrome for Android has both a mobile and a tablet interface, the tablet interface pictured above, looks very similar to the desktop version. Many of the same features have... (Keep reading..)

Google’s Bouncer doesn’t let Malware into the Android Market

Google has announced a new security measure for the Android Market, codenamed 'Bouncer'. The new security measure is very simple, it automatically scans apps for Malware, without requiring developers to go through an app approval process. Bouncer will scan all uploaded apps for spyware, trojans and other lethal components, it will also look for other suspicious behaviour that may raise a red flag. The service will also run a simulation of each app in the cloud, and regularly check up on developer accounts to keep repeat offenders out of the Android Market. Existing apps will... (Keep reading..)
