| With so many tablets entering the market, the Dell Streak might have been overlooked in the past. However, that might soon change. An anonymous source told StreakSmart that the Dell Streak 7 Wi-Fi tablet will get an OTA update to Android 3.0 Honeycomb. The update should improve battery life as the current platform pings the server and drains the battery. It doesn’t look as though the update will come to the 3G version at this time. | Since there are some that include the Apple iPad as a mobile PC, Apple whizzed by HP in Q4 2010 to become the number one mobile PC vendor in the world. According to DisplaySearch, Apple had 17% of the market share, 10.2 million units. HP had 15.6% or 9.3 units. Acer took the third spot, with 14% of the market share, 8.4 million units. Dell and Toshiba rounded out the top 5, with 9.9% and 8.6% respectively. | A few weeks ago during the Windows Phone 7 announcement, the Dell Venue Pro was introduced and will be running Microsoft’s latest OS. The device has a portrait QWERTY slide out keyboard, a 4.1 inch touch screen, and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The latest rumor from PC World is that Dell is also working on another version of the Dell Venue Pro that will be running the Android OS. Over the past four weeks I’ve again had the privilege of getting my hands on one of the most lusted-after pieces of mobile technology in recent days, the Dell Streak. The guys at MobiCity were kind enough to loan me one of their imported O2 models. The caveat on this review is that with the device being a network-locked unit I have been unable to test the 3G features such as voice calls and mobile data.
