LG drifts away from Windows Phone

During a recent earnings conference session, an LG executive asserted that the company plans to concentrate its efforts on smartphones running on Android operating system. This ignited speculations that the manufacturer might be drifting away from Windows Phone platform, at least for the time being. Some time back, the internet blogosphere went wild raving about the possibility of an exclusive smartphone being developed secretly by Facebook. The speculations were put to rest by none other than Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself. Later, HTC unveiled Android-based HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa. Twitter App updates for iOS, Android

Twitter has updated its applications for two mobile operations systems, iOS and Android.  The app adds a discover tab, which allows users to track activity related to your tweets such as retweets or favorites.  It also updates the search functionality with added suggestions with different spellings.  Notifications have also been updated so users receive immediate notifications pertaining to your tweets (retweets, favorites, etc). Sony letting developers test apps on Xperia devices

Sony has started a program that will allow Android developers to test their apps on several of their Xperia line smartphones.  It will be part of Sony's Device Loaner Program where they can borrow the Xperia phone from the company at no charge.  Developers have 9 devices to choose from and can keep the device for 30 days.  Currently, the program is available to those in U.S. and Canada, but those in other countries can participate if they pay for shipping and other charges.  Of course the company... Intel’s first smartphone launches later this week in the form of the Lava Xolo X900

Intel are expected to launch their first Android-based and Medfield-based smartphone near the end of this week. The device is said to be the Lava Xolo X900 and the launch market will be India, which seems like a strange place to launch a new device.
