The HTC One X and the Nokia Lumia 900 are just two of the many phones that will hit the market next quarter, specifically next month — April.  But what is with April that mobile phone makers love?

One of the few trends on this planet as-yet uncredited to Apple is MobiGeek Month – the name I’ve unilaterally given to April; a month during which rumours abound about the latest incarnation of the iPhone. Along with just about every other trend post-rickrolling, MobiGeek month showcases Apple’s influence over the mobile handset market with manufacturers taking advantage of a traditionally quite period to launch their flagship handsets and variants thereof.

This year’s big launch announcements for MobiGeek Month so far are the HTC One X, the Lumia 900 & Samsung Galaxy S III (unconfirmed). Anyone who takes time out from talking about the next iDevice in hushed-lest-we-incur-the-wrath-of-Apple’s-legal-team tones is sure to find something to quench their geek lust.
