Apple announced their sales figures of the new iPad and they sold 3 million iPads over the launch weekend.  Apple’s VP of Worldwide Marketing, Philip Schiller said:

“The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold―the strongest iPad launch yet. Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can’t wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday.”

The initial launch of the new iPad was available in Australia, US, Canada, Germany, France, Singapore, UK, Hong Kong, Japan, and Puerto Rico.  It will be available in 24 more countries on March 23rd.
